The Best Social Justice Program is a Quality Education.

Welcome to Educating North Andover.

The North Andover Public Schools have been great educational institutions. Many of the members of this group have had terrific experiences with their children's time at NAPS However, in recent years some very controversial content has appeared in our

educational system. This is all well documented over the past few years in the media. There is always a tendency to want to believe such things are only happening elsewhere, that nothing like that could be in our schools. Sadly this is not the case.

Today this controversial content pervades out town's public school system.

We have a Civics program, now in its fourth year, based on a highly biased curriculum out of Harvard University called "The Democratic Knowledge Project". A classroom handout from the first year of this program appears to the left.

In conjuction with this civics program there is also an annual field trip to the highly partisan Edward M. Kennedy Institute.
North Adover has chosen The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) program for our Social and Emotional Learning department. This program appears to stress "anti-racism", "equity", and "social justice" over our students individual social and emotional health.

According to CASEL President and CEO, Karen Niem, "We see SEL as a tool for anti-racism...as a lever for equity and the critical role it can play in achieving those goals"

The North Andover Public Schools website has a section called "Parent University." Under the heading "Equity & Anti-Racism" are several questionable materials listed as resources for elementary students including the book "Not My Idea" which contains the pages below.

A number of Professional Development workshops are offered for teachers that focus on Diversity Equity and Inclusion. These included a book study on "White Fragility" and a long term course entitled "Principal Equity Arc" that stressed land acknowledgements, among other topics.

Many of these programs, from Civics to the Professional development workshops, feature themes derived from "Critical Race Theory", even including prominent Critical Race Theorists in the materials.

Another controversial issue that has been in the news centers around gender ideology. Here again we have found multiple books many will find inappropriate circulating in our elementary school libraries. Below are a few pages from one of these books "What Are Your Words? A Book about Pronouns."

We do not oppose these lessons because "they make white people look bad" nor are we racists, homophobes, transphobes, etc., and we do not accept anyone who is. Our goal is to create an environment where all students can receive a proper education in order to become sucessful well adjusted citizens. We believe parents and family should come first in decisions regarding their children's upbringing and well-being, and insist on transparency from the education system.
